FAQs

Are these meal kits? Do I have to do any prep or cooking?

Items on the main menu are NOT meal kits. All food on the main menu is fully prepared and/or cooked. Cold items such as salads and snacks are ready to eat. Most items only require reheating by stovetop, oven, or microwave. We occasionally may offer some semi-prepared meal kits intended for gatherings where your family can do some cooking together – these will be on a separate special menu and marked clearly as such.

Is everything organic?

We believe in full food transparency. We strive for every ingredient to be either (i) sourced from a regenerative farm, (ii) organic, (iii) both regenerative and organic. If an item is not any of those, it will be clearly labeled as such. There are some instances where the concepts of regenerative and organic do not apply to the ingredient (e.g., salt and fish). You will not see fancy marketing terms like “all natural” which are misleading and hold no weight or real meaning.

Is everything natural / all natural / wholesome?

We don’t use nonsense terminology. We’re making real food the right way. We do not add artificial ingredients, nor do we use “natural flavor.” Here’s in-depth information on why: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3620743/

Is all beef grass fed and grass finished?

Yes.

Are all ingredients local?

Due to several reasons, including climate and distribution limitations, we can’t source all ingredients locally at this time; however, one of the highest priorities of our mission is to increase the percentage of meat and produce being sourced locally to you the customer. We have a vision of the future where vegetables and fruit are picked and on your plate on the same day.

Is the food frozen?

Many items are available for you to pick for either fridge and freezer. Some items will be marked as frozen only, and others marked as fridge only. When takeout/pickup is available, hot will also be an option on certain items.

How do I heat up the food?

Each particular item may have specific heating instructions. Take the lid off of the container(s), and either heat up in a pot on the stovetop, or put the container(s) right in the oven. You can also microwave right in the container. For frozen items, we recommend thawing it first in the fridge, although many items can go straight from freezer to oven.

How long will the food last?

Refer to each menu item for specifics, but generally speaking, salads are best eaten within 1 day, most fridge items are best consumed within 2-3 days, and frozen items within a month.

Why do you use glass containers?

Compostable, biodegradable, or plastic containers contain chemicals such as PFAS that easily leach into food upon heating (or even slight temperature changes). These chemicals are known to cause or contribute to risk factors for cancer and a myriad of other diseases and health complications. We use borosilicate glass, which will not leach, and can go straight from freezer or fridge to oven.

Is the menu the same every week?

The menu will vary by week and location, but many items are consistently on the menu from week-to-week. If we temporarily remove an item due to supply chain interruptions, we will work to bring it back as soon as possible. Some ingredients are seasonal, e.g., butternut squash in the fall / winter.

When do we have to make our menu selections for the week?

This will depend on your location and when your delivery day(s) are, but the typical cut off time is midnight 3-4 days before the next delivery.

Can we customize any menu item?

We should be able to accommodate many customizations, but a 4-item minimum is usually required for any customized items. If enough customers are requesting the same customization, we will work towards adding the variation so it can be selected by anyone without the 4-item minimum.

Can we have food delivered more than once per week?

Likely yes, but it will depend on your delivery address and selected plan. Please contact us to learn more.

Can I provide feedback on the meals?

We want you to love your food, and encourage you to send us feedback on everything you eat from our menu. If there’s something you would like to see done differently, such as a variation of a meal, we want your honest input so we can work towards improving the menu for you. We can’t guarantee we’ll be able to implement all requests, but we will certainly do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs and preferences.
